SharePoint to SharePoint Online Cross Tenant Migration

Recently completed a SharePoint Online to SharePoint Online cross-tenant migration, and I thought I'd share my experience in case anyone is looking for a reliable migration tool.

I had to migrate 20 SharePoint sites and 12 subsites from one Microsoft 365 tenant to another while preserving the existing structure. After testing a few options, I ended up using Shoviv SharePoint Migrator, and it handled the migration smoothly.

Some things that worked well for me:

  • Migrated sites, subsites, document libraries, lists, folders, and files.
  • Preserved metadata and permissions.
  • Incremental migration helped avoid re-copying already migrated data.
  • Straightforward mapping between source and destination tenants.
  • Detailed migration reports made it easy to verify everything after completion.
  • No major downtime during the migration.

The migration process was much simpler than I expected, especially considering the number of sites involved. All 20 sites and 12 subsites were migrated successfully, and users were able to continue working with minimal disruption.

Has anyone else here used Shoviv SharePoint Migrator or another tool for cross-tenant SharePoint migrations? I'd be interested to hear how your experience compares and whether you've found any best practices for larger migrations.
