Dealing with relentless calls from CheckRedi of Kentucky? Feeling harassed?
I wanted to share my recent experience in case anyone else is dealing with the same thing. For the past few weeks, I've been getting multiple calls a day from CheckRedi of Kentucky about a debt. At first, I thought it might be a mistake, but the calls just kept coming, sometimes as early as 7:30 AM.
It's not just the frequency. The caller was very aggressive, making vague threats about "legal action" if I didn't pay immediately. They even called my workplace, which put me in a really awkward position. I asked them to stop calling me there, but they did it again the next day. It felt incredibly invasive and stressful.
I started looking into it because I was at my wit's end. I found out that a lot of their tactics—like the excessive calls, threats they don't follow through on, and contacting you at work after you've asked them not to—can actually be illegal under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). There's a lot of information out there, but this article breaks down exactly what they're not allowed to do and how to fight back.
I decided to stop just taking it. I documented every call and sent a formal written request for them to stop contacting me. The calls haven't stopped completely, but knowing my rights has made a huge difference in how I handle them. If you're going through something similar, know you're not alone, and you don't have to just put up with being harassed. It might be worth checking if what they're doing is even legal.
I hope this helps someone else out there dealing with the same stress.
